We’ve all been there — dreaming of that perfect bike ride. Smooth roads, fresh air, good vibes…
But reality? Reality has other plans.
Let’s break down what we expect vs what actually happens on a typical bike ride.
1. The Weather
Expectation:
Sunny skies, cool breeze, perfect temperature.
Reality:
- First 10 minutes: “Wow, perfect weather!”
- Next 10 minutes: Sun turns into lava.
- Final 10 minutes: Random rain cloud targets YOU only.
2. Your Energy
Expectation:
“I’m gonna ride 50km easy. No sweat.”
Reality:
- 2km in: Feeling strong!
- 5km in: Legs getting spicy…
- 10km in: Regret. Regret everywhere.
3. Hills
Expectation:
Cruising up like a Tour de France champion.
Reality:
Questioning all your life choices while barely moving at 3km/h.
Bonus thought: “Is this hill even legal??”
4. Snack Break
Expectation:
Healthy energy bars & refreshing water.
Reality:
Destroying chips, chocolate, and whatever else you found at a random sari-sari store.
5. Flat Tire
Expectation:
“I’m prepared. I got this.”
Reality:
15 minutes later → covered in grease, YouTube tutorial playing, still no clue what you’re doing.
6. Group Ride
Expectation:
Chill ride with friends, good convo, relaxing pace.
Reality:
That one friend turns the ride into a race. Everyone’s gasping for air while they’re casually talking like:
“This is my recovery pace.”
7. Google Maps Estimate
Expectation:
“30 minutes to destination? Easy.”
Reality:
- Add hills.
- Add lost turns.
- Add 1-hour suffering time.
Actual time: 1 hour 45 minutes
8. After-Ride Feeling
Expectation:
Fresh, happy, fit, ready for selfies.
Reality:
Sweaty zombie mode. Legs don’t work. Face looks like you fought a dragon.
9. Posting on Social Media
Expectation:
Epic photos. Scenic views. Pro vibes.
Reality:
Only 1 blurry selfie with helmet hair and a caption like:
“Still alive.”
10. The Next Day
Expectation:
Back to normal life.
Reality:
Legs: “We don’t know her.”
Stairs = Natural enemy.
